HOW STRETCH PANDA WORKS

ONE-ON-ONE STRETCH

If you haven’t had an assisted stretch before – prepare yourself for a great time! Your StretchMaster will greet you and discuss your current flexibility, any injuries that you may have and walk you through your session. Stretches are performed on one of our custom designed benches. Your stretch won’t be painful, but your StretchMaster will communicate with you throughout your stretch to gauge your comfort level. It’s best to wear clothes you feel comfortable moving in. People wear workout clothes, gym shorts, yoga pants, T-shirts, etc. Jeans and slacks tend to restrict your mobility so we suggest not wearing those types of materials. We require grip socks for your safety and hygiene. If you don’t have any we sell a great selection at the studio!

WHAT DO YOU DO AT STRETCHPANDA?

StretchPanda provides one-on-one, customized assisted stretching sessions. The stretches are given on our custom designed benches by StretchMasters who will customize your stretch to your needs and talk you through your stretches. Our StretchMasters employ a “push & release” type of stretching (technically “proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation stretching”, or PNF) where you will be resisting a bit at times during the stretch and then releasing, resulting in a more effective stretch.

WHEN SHOULD I GET STRETCHED?

This varies, but it is really up to you and your StretchMaster. Based on your assessment, your StretchMaster will work with you and recommend a stretch plan for you.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I GET STRETCHED?

Just like any activity, consistency is key. We offer memberships to get stretched once or twice a week. Your StretchMaster will talk to you about the best option for your needs.

WHAT SORT OF BACKGROUNDS DO YOUR STRETCHMASTER HAVE?

Our StretchMaster come from a range of backgrounds and are all qualified and/or licensed in various disciplines of bodywork. Massage therapists, yoga teachers, personal trainers, chiropractors, assistant physical therapists, and other professionals are available. They all go through a rigorous training program that teaches them correct stretching methods as well as how to work with customers of diverse body shapes and levels of flexibility.

I'M TERRIFIED OF BEING HURT.

Don’t be that way. During your stretch, you will feel strain but not pain. Your StretchMaster will continually assess your level of comfort and modify the stretch to meet your needs. As the stretches are performed, your StretchMaster will ask you where you are on a 1-10 intensity scale. We aim for a 7 on most stretches; if it gets too severe, just notify the StretchMaster you’re getting close to or at your limit. Some people like a more strenuous stretch, while others prefer a gentler stretch; the stretch is entirely up to you.

WHAT IF I GET INJURED?

We prefer not to stretch anyone who has sustained an acute injury. You should absolutely consult with a doctor or physical therapist and obtain approval from them before visiting StretchPanda. We do not practice physical therapy. If you have persistent pain, discomfort, or stiffness, however, obtaining an assisted stretch is acceptable—as long as your doctor or physical therapist approves.

ARE YOU REQUIRED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT?

We accept both walk-ins and appointments. Appointments are recommended, however, to ensure a place with the StretchMaster of your choice.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

You can wear whatever you want to feel comfortable stretching in. People dress in exercise clothing, gym shorts, yoga gear, baggy shorts, and T-shirts.

CAN I HAVE MY OWN ROOM?

In private rooms, we do not provide services. However, if you like, you can request a bench at the rear.

WHAT AGE DO YOU NEED TO BE?

There is no upper age limit. We welcome customers of all ages! Anyone under the age of 18 must, however, have a parent or guardian sign our waiver.
